Goldey-Beacom Gets Four Picks for CACC Weekly Accolades

Goldey-Beacom took home four weekly honors from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference with the softball team sweeping the three majors awards.
 
Alesia Doctor (Rising Sun, MD) was tabbed Softball's Pitcher and Rookie of the Week, senior Carly Setting (Newark, DE) was named the sport's Player of the Week and junior Darin Miller (Mifflinburg, PA) was selected to Baseball's Weekly Honor Roll.
 
Doctor struck out 20 over 12 innings, allowing just one run and nine hits in getting two victories.  She had 10 strikeouts Tuesday against Chowan, allowing just one run and four hits over six innings, before getting another 10 strikeouts Wednesday versus Malone over six scoreless frames.
 
Doctor is off to an outstanding start as one of the Lightning's top pitchers, already chalking at least five strikeouts in five of her appearances.  She is first in the league with 48 strikeouts, fifth with a 1.46 ERA and eighth with a .225 batting average against.
 
Setting batted .600 (9-for-15) over four games with a double, two triples and five RBI.  She went 3-for-3 with four RBI, including a three-run triple in Tuesday's 9-3 win over Chowan.  Setting also went 5-for-9 in Wednesday's doubleheader against Malone, including three hits in game two.
 
Combing great hitting, fielding and speed, Setting continues to be a major component one year after being picked second team All-CACC.  She is fourth in the league with 23 hits, fifth with 10 stolen bases, sixth with 11 RBI, eighth with a .561 slugging percentage and 14th with a .404 batting average.
 
Setting is 12th in school history with a .360 batting average and eighth with 26 stolen bases.
 
Goldey-Beacom (15-5) is coming off a 6-2 trip to South Carolina in which it hit .389 and outscored its opponents 58-26.  The week ended with the squad selected by the Mayor's Office as the only school to participate in last Saturday's North Myrtle Beach St. Patrick's Day Parade.
 
The squad is eighth in the country with a .371 batting average, ninth with 67 stolen bases and 10th with 11 triples.
 
Miller batted .462 (6-for-13) on the week with four doubles and three RBI.  He had two doubles in game two Sunday against Queens (NY) and also had two hits in game two Friday at Queens (NY).
 
Miller has displayed great infield play in the young campaign with six multi-hit contests and a hit in five of his last six games.  He is first in the CACC with 17 RBI and seventh with 18 hits.
 
Goldey-Beacom (10-7) is ranked eighth in the East Region according to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.  Its resume already includes a win against nationally ranked Millersville and two versus regionally ranked Le Moyne.
