Zayon Marsh Picked Second Team All-CACC

2/28/2023 12:00:00 AM

Outstanding play on the court for Goldey-Beacom's basketball teams drew honors from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference with freshman Zayon Marsh (Maplewood, NJ) tabbed second team all-league on the men's side and senior Alexis Harrison (Millville, NJ) picked second team all-conference for the women.

Marsh simply was a dynamo in his debut season, combining outstanding shooting and great low-post play along with the ability to guard many frontcourt players.  As exciting a player to watch, Marsh was an impact player every time he stepped on the floor and that had the Lightning battling for a CACC Tournament spot all season.

Marsh is sixth in the nation with 14 double-doubles (second in the CACC), seventh with 282 rebounds (second in the league), 10th with 10.1 rebounds per game (third in the CACC) and second in the conference with 18.7 points per contest.  The five-time pick as the league's Rookie of the Week scored at least 20 points 12 times, including 33 points December 3 against Holy Family.

He ends the year with 524 points for the seven-best mark in program history, 282 rebounds for the second-best mark and 190 field goals to close fourth.

Harrison was a key player in the post who graduates with her name all over the school's record book.  One who always was looked to when the ball was worked around the court, she was a presence at all times and this had Goldey-Beacom in many games against what is a talented East Region.

She is ninth in the CACC with 13.0 points per game, third with 104 free throws, fourth with a .515 field goal percentage, seventh with 350 points and 10th with 121 field goals.  The six-time pick to the league's Weekly Honor Roll, Harrison scored at least 20 points seven times that included 27 points February 8 at Georgian Court.

Harrison graduates 11th in team history with 1,175 points, first with a .526 field goal percentage, fifth with 102 blocks, sixth with 463 field goals and seventh with 648 rebounds.  She also owns four of the top five single-season field goal percentage marks in team annals.
