Baseball Ends North Carolina Trip with 13-5 Loss to Kutztown

Goldey-Beacom's strong start to the 2023 season took a slight detour with the squad's 13-5 loss against Kutztown, ending its second trip to the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, NC.

Kutztown did most of its damage in the sixth inning with five runs for a 10-0 lead.  Ethan Martini lined an RBI single, Antonio Rossillo drew a bases-loaded walk, Jason Wolff had a run-scoring single and Michael Burns rapped a two-run single.

Senior Marlon Lindsey Jr. (Lafayette Hill, PA) lined an RBI single in the last of the sixth to get the Lightning on the board.  Darin Miller (Mifflinburg, PA) had a two-run double in the seventh and fellow junior Kyle Walker (Wilmington, DE) added a two-RBI single in the eighth for the final.

Sophomore Christian Petrillo (New Brunswick, NJ) had three hits with sophomore Braden Kolmansberger (Lewisberry, PA), the reigning Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference and National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association East Region Player of the Week, and senior Johnny Kampes (Colora, MD) adding two apiece for the Lightning (7-2).

Walker's single gives him an eight-game hitting streak and he now has a hit in 26 of his last 27 contests.

Martini and Brennan Rozich had three hits apiece with Burns getting three RBI for the Golden Bears (4-2).

Goldey-Beacom on Saturday visits Millersville for a noon doubleheader.
