Scintillating Six Highlight the Weekly Awards for Goldey-Beacom from the CACC

2/20/2023 12:00:00 AM

More crossover games meant more crossover success that turned into more crossover awards from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference with six of Goldey-Beacom's student-athletes so honored.

Sophomore shortstop Braden Kolmansberger (Lewisberry, PA) was picked the Baseball Player of the Week, junior Justin Jump (Wilmington, DE) was tabbed the sport's Pitcher of the Week, junior left fielder Hannah Davis (Bethel, DE) was named Softball's Player of the Week, Alesia Doctor (Rising Sun, MD) was picked the sport's Rookie of the Week, senior Alexis Harrison (Millville, NJ) was named to the Women's Basketball Weekly Honor Roll and junior Damani Thomas (Kingston, NY) was picked to Men's Basketball Weekly Honor Roll.

Kolmansberger batted .353 (6-for-17) on the week with five doubles and nine RBI over four games.  He had an exceptional time against Mercy, getting two hits and three RBI in each of the two contests with three total doubles.

Looking for yet another standout campaign, Kolmansberger last year was picked second team All-CACC at second base after hitting .302 with 23 RBI.  He already is in the program's top 10 with a career .308 batting average, 13 stolen bases and 105 assists.

Jump struck out seven over eight innings, allowing just one hit after starting with 3 2/3 innings of no-hit ball in Goldey-Beacom's 10-0 victory Sunday over Mercy.  His strikeouts were one off his career high from February 20 of last year, also against Mercy.

A major reason for Goldey-Beacom off to a 5-0 start, Jump is 2-0 on the campaign with 10 strikeouts and just two runs and three hits allowed over two starts.  The 66 career strikeouts for the two-time member of the CACC Academic Honor Roll already have him ninth in school history.

Davis batted .500 (9-for-18) over six games with a double and three RBI.  She collected five hits in Tuesday's doubleheader vs. Lincoln (PA) before getting two hits in game one Wednesday against Washington Adventist.

One of the squad's top all-around athletes the last three years, Davis is off to another exceptional start with hits in six of the team's eight games and three multi-hit contests.  Her 35 career stolen bases already are third best in program history.

Doctor struck out 10 over 7 2/3 innings and got a save in her four outings.  She had five strikeouts Tuesday vs. Lincoln (PA) before pitching two innings in game two Sunday against Lock Haven for the save.

Doctor's promising career has seen her record 15 strikeouts, two saves and a 1.66 ERA over 12 2/3 innings with just two walks.

Harrison closed with 21 points on 7-of-10 shooting Saturday against Chestnut Hill.

Making the Weekly Honor Roll for the sixth time this season, Harrison continued her solid play in the post with her seventh game in 2022-23 scoring at least 20 points.  She is 11th in team history with 1,154 points, fifth with 101 blocks, seventh with 458 field goals and eighth with 636 rebounds.

Thomas averaged 21.5 points over two games.  He gave his all Saturday against Chestnut Hill, scoring 22 points to go with seven rebounds and six 3-pointers.  Thomas also had 21 points on 9-of-17 shooting Monday at Kutztown.

Thomas, who has made the Weekly Honor Roll twice this season, has scored in double figures 14 times.  This included 28 points on 8-of-13 shooting November 12 at Staten Island, beginning a streak of five games in double figures.
