Basketball Places the Fantastic Four on the List for CACC Weekly Honors

11/27/2023 12:00:00 AM

Goldey-Beacom put forth another strong week that produced a pair of basketball victories and saw four gain weekly honors from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.

Katie Yoder (Dublin, PA) repeated as the Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week, sophomore Rory Ciszkowski (Wilmington, DE) was named to the sport's Weekly Honor Roll, Zakari McQueen (Petersburg, VA) was tabbed the Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week and senior Nazim Derry (Atlantic City, NJ) gained a spot on the sport's Weekly Honor Roll.

Yoder averaged 14.5 points and 3.5 rebounds over two games.  She scored 18 points Tuesday at Shippensburg before getting 11 and five rebounds Sunday in Goldey-Beacom's 67-66 win over regionally ranked Mercy.

Off to an incredible start as a debutant, Yoder has scored in double figures five of her team's six games and has started all.  She is ninth in the league with 13.8 points per game and ninth with nine 3-pointers.

Ciszkowski averaged 16.5 points to go with eight 3-pointers over two games.  She had career bests of 20 points and six 3-pointers Sunday against a Mercy squad that was ranked seventh in the latest D2 CSC (College Sports Communicators) East Region Poll.

Another tremendous guard who has made a noticeable impact on the program, Ciszkowski now has 81 career 3-pointers and that has her just 13 shy of reaching the school's top 10 list.  She is first in the CACC with 16 three-pointers, third with a .390 three-point percentage and 12th with 12.7 points per contest.

McQueen scored 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting with four 3-pointers, four rebounds and two assists in Goldey-Beacom's 110-78 victory Tuesday over Kutztown.

McQueen must have learned a great deal during his red-shirt campaign last season as that experience is paying off, scoring in double figures each of his last two games and shooting a combined 10-of-17 from the floor.  He is 23rd in the conference with a .400 three-point percentage and 28th with eight 3-pointers.

Derry put himself on the verge of hitting 1,000 career points, scoring 21 points to go with eight rebounds, five 3-pointers, four assists and four steals Tuesday against Kutztown.

The 2022 first team All-CACC pick again continues to amaze with his scoring ability, which has him just 13 points shy of becoming the 12th in team annals to reach quadruple figures.  He also is fifth in team history with 152 career 3-pointers, in addition to being fifth in the league this season with 18.2 points per contest.

Both teams are in action Wednesday at home against Holy Family.  The women's contest begins at 6:00 pm and the men go at 8:00 pm.
