Basketball Teams See Two Make the Initial CACC Weekly Honor Roll

11/13/2023 12:00:00 AM

Goldey-Beacom saw sophomore Zayon Marsh (Maplewood, NJ) make the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Basketball Weekly Honor Roll and freshman Katie Yoder (Dublin, PA) get the same honor for Women's Basketball.

Marsh averaged 19.5 points and 10.0 rebounds over two games on 54 percent (14-of-26) shooting in helping Goldey-Beacom go 1-1 last weekend.  He had 24 points on 10-of-14 shooting with nine rebounds Friday in his squad's 113-109 victory over Roberts Wesleyan before getting 15 and 11 Saturday at Daemen.

Marsh, last season tabbed second team All-CACC, once again looks to assert himself as an important player in the Lightning's arsenal.  A dominant player in all capacities, Marsh last season ended ninth in the country with 10.1 rebounds per game, ninth with 14 double-doubles, 52nd with 18.7 points per contest and 79th with 524 points.

His 282 rebounds are the second-best, single-season mark in team history, his 190 field goals are fourth and his 524 points are seventh.

Yoder averaged 12.0 points over two games.  She scored 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting Saturday against New Haven after getting 10 and eight rebounds Friday vs. the District of Columbia.

Yoder is one of seven newcomers in a Goldey-Beacom lineup that saw seven graduations from a season ago.  She reached 1,000 career points during her time at Pennridge High School.

The men's squad is home Tuesday against Lock Haven at 6:00 pm and the women's team is home Wednesday versus Lincoln (PA) at 6:00 pm.
