Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Fall, 4-2, to Wilmington (DE) in Regular-Season Finale

Goldey-Beacom put their best foot forward in a 4-2 loss against a regionally-ranked Wilmington (DE) side to close out Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference regular-season play at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field in Wilmington, DE.

Wilmington (DE) opened up all scoring in the 31st minute when a corner from Diego Ramirez found the head of Sebastian Agerschou for a 1-0 lead.

The Lightning, unphased by the Wildcats' dominant first-half play, equalized eight minutes later courtesy of juniors Nick Perez (Wilmington, DE) and Oliver Person (Ski, Norway). After intercepting a pass, Perez played a through-ball to Person for a breakaway goal.

With the score tied-up after the second half whistle, it was all to play for. But Wilmington (DE) continued their dominant play, scoring two goals within seven minutes of each other. Malthe Hannesbo drove in 25-yard and 15-yard shots to give the Wildcats a 4-1 lead.

The final spark for the Lightning came from an unbelievably impressive shot from senior Eduardo Coimbra (Curitiba, Brazil). Recognizing that Wilmington (DE)'s Charlie Phillips was off his line, Coimbra fired a shot from just behind the halfway line, bounding over Phillips' head for a 4-2 finish.

Person closed with two shots for GBC (6-9-2, 4-5-2 CACC).

Hannesbo had three shots and four other players had two for Wilmington (DE) (8-5-4, 6-3-2 CACC).

Goldey-Beacom head to Waterbury, CT on Monday as they face Post in the first round of the CACC Tournament. The time of the match is yet to be determined.
