Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Falls, 4-1, at No. 9 Post in the CACC Tournament Quarterfinals

Goldey-Beacom could not shake a rough start against ninth-ranked Post and saw its season conclude with a 4-1 loss at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament quarterfinals in Waterbury, CT.

A scoreless tie was what the teams played to on October 21 and that still could have been achieved today according to the sport's rules, but Post (11-1-5) refuted that exactly two minutes into the match.  Gentian Selimi worked his way to 25 yards in front and struck one with his left foot that bended just inside the left post.

Aritz Uriate in the 17th minute got into the act for a 2-0 contest.  He received a pass inside the 18-yard box and chipped home a perfect shot.

The Eagles a minute later made it 3-0 when Luca Dettoli's deflected shot found its way to the net.  Uriate in the in the 25th minute got his 12th goal of the season and second of the match, receiving a cross and heading one home for a four-goal contest.

Junior Oliver Person (Ski, Norway) busted the goose egg for the Lightning in the 80th minute, making it 4-1.  He won a 50/50 ball on the right side and buried one inside the left post for his third goal of the season and sixth career.

Freshman Aeddan Jones (Chester, England) could not be blamed for the loss, recording four incredible saves in the first half that kept the Lightning in it.

The loss ends an outstanding campaign in which the Lightning (6-10-2) rallied from a zero-win season last year and picked to end 11th in this year's preseason coaches poll.  GBC ended the regular season with five results in its last eight league contests and amassed eight multi-goal games.
