Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Gains 2-1 Victory at Chestnut Hill

Goldey-Beacom secured its first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory in a 2-1 win at Chestnut Hill in Lafayette Hill, PA.

Despite a slower start to the season, the Lightning continues to improve, as show by its results.

Chestnut Hill opened the scoring in the eighth minute with a goal from Diego Cabrera, assisted by Diego Rodriguez.

The Lightning stayed resilient to tie the score at 1-1 in the 16th minute. Junior Nick Perez (Wilmington, DE) found the back of the net off an assist from sophomore Cody Niggebrugge (Middletown, DE) to give the Lightning a spark.

The victory was secured in the 58th minute by none other than senior Eduardo Coimbra (Curitiba, Brazil), who is becoming unstoppable this season and currently sits with 13 points. Coimbra was assisted by junior Oliver Person (Ski, Norway) for the Lightning to take a 2-1 win.

Person closed with three shots with four others notching one shot apiece. Junior Chris Jones (Denton, MD) totaled a season-high 11 saves for GBC (3-6-1, 1-2-1 CACC).

Juan Ortiz had 12 shots with Cabrera and Jorge Mendez finishing with two each for Chestnut Hill (2-5-2, 1-3-0).

Goldey-Beacom hosts Felician on Saturday as part of Homecoming & Lightning Family Weekend at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field in Wilmington, DE. This match begins at 2:30 pm, which follows the women's match at 12:00 pm.
