Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Hands No. 11 Post its First League Blemish With 0-0 Tie

Goldey-Beacom showed resiliency all day in a more than impressive defensive showing, playing to a 0-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference tie against 11th-ranked Post in Waterbury, CT.

The Lightning displayed no worries against a squad who had outscored their opponents 26-9 entering the contest, including 19-1 in league games.  GBC now has posted a result in four of its last six contests, all of which were league matches.

Goldey-Beacom survived a few close calls that included a couple of Post's shots hitting the crossbar, but the defense continued to hold true and limit the number of quality opportunities.

GBC (5-8-2, 3-4-2 CACC) now has 11 points and moves into sole possession of sixth place in the league with the top eight going to the CACC Tournament.  Georgian Court (3-4-1) is seventh with 10 points and Jefferson (3-5) remains eighth with nine points after its 1-0 loss today to Dominican (NY).

Post (9-1-4, 8-0-1) saw its three-game winning streak end, but now has a result in its last nine contests.

Freshman Aeddan Jones (Chester, England) made six saves for the Lightning and Andrea Berti attempted two shots for the Eagles.

Goldey-Beacom is off until next Saturday, when it entertains Caldwell on Senior Day as part of a doubleheader with the women's team.  Game time is at 2:30 pm, which follows the women's noon contest.
