Men's Soccer Dealt 4-1 Loss at Bloomsburg

Goldey-Beacom faced a tough Bloomsburg side and was handed a 4-1 loss in its final non-conference match in Bloomsburg, PA.

Bloomsburg opened the scoring midway through the first half when Anthony Schlee's header found the back of the net in the 27th minute, assisted by Alex Wilsterman. Another header came two minutes later from Kody Besser off an assist from Braden Alicea to give the Huskies a 2-0 lead.

In the 38th minute, senior Eduardo Coimbra (Curitiba, Brazil), who stays consistent for the Lightning, attempted to give the team a spark after burying a penalty kick to make the score 2-1.

Coimbra now is seventh outright in school history with 17 goals and remains sixth in points, now with 56.

Unfortunately, Bloomsburg continued their strong play from the first half, being awarded with another goal after a defensive mistake from the Lightning. The final goal came in the 84th minute from Owen Hollobaugh to secure Bloomsburg a 4-1 win.

Freshman Aeddan Jones (Chester, England) had a solid match between the posts with five saves and junior Nick Perez (Wilmington, DE) totaled three shots for GBC (2-6-1).

Schlee and Besser had four shots apiece and Sammy Ames closed with three for Bloomsburg (5-2-3).

Goldey-Beacom returns to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play on Wednesday, when it faces Chestnut Hill at 7:00 pm in Lafayette Hill, PA.
