Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Gets Huge 1-0 Road Victory at Holy Family

Goldey-Beacom put forth a great effort on both ends of the field and notched its second victory in the last three outings with a 1-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference triumph at Holy Family in Philadelphia, PA.

Goldey-Beacom played into the blinding 5:30 pm sun of twilight for the game's only goal.  Nick Perez (Wilmington, DE) took a corner kick from the left side that fellow junior Oliver Person (Ski, Norway) directed on net.  But the Tigers goalkeeper had some trouble corralling it and junior Colby Niggebrugge (Middletown, DE) pounded on the rebound in the 75th minute for his second goal of the season.

Holy Family's pressure in the first half might have been more of a battle than the sun, but Goldey-Beacom held its own by turning 14 shots against into four saves from junior Chris Jones (Denton, MD).

The Tigers kept the intensity going into the final 45 minutes, but the Lightning's defense was up to the challenge for the team's second road conference win of the year.

Senior Eduardo Coimbra (Curitiba, Brazil), named Monday to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll for a third time this season, recorded four shots and Jones amassed six saves for the Lightning (4-7-1, 2-3-1 CACC).

Lautaro Berisso notched five shots and Luke Shank totaled four saves over 77 minutes for the Tigers (3-6-2, 1-4-1).

Goldey-Beacom on Saturday visits Bloomfield for a 3:45 pm match as part of a doubleheader with the women's team.  Game time for the women's contest is 1:30 pm.
