Women's Soccer Handed 4-2 Loss Against Franklin Pierce

Goldey-Beacom finished its New England trip with a 4-2 loss against a tough Franklin Pierce team in Rindge, NH.

The Ravens opened the scoring in the second minute off a goal from Anna Crapanzano, assisted by Gianna Derose.

The Lightning equalized in the 20th minute. Sophomore Angela Lee (Warren, R.I.) continued to play well, showing her speed down the right wing before crossing it into fellow sophomore Alyssa Ruggeri (Hockessin, Del.). Ruggeri fed the ball to freshman Mariah McQueen (Baltimore, MD), who was able to find the back of the net.

Franklin Pierce took the lead before the halftime whistle after a mishandled shot from Goldey-Beacom created an easy finish from Delaney Farinha.

The Ravens continued their strong play into the second half, creating a 65th minute goal from Grace Martin after splitting defenders to finish from near the penalty spot.

A penalty shot by Mollie Cahalane in the 86th minute made the score 3-1 in favor of the Ravens.

An 88th-minute free kick from sophomore Alex Lowry (Wenonah, N.J.) found Ruggeri for a header to finish the match 4-2.

Sophomore Nikki Cashin (Ridley, PA) continued to show her talent between the posts, recording a career-best 15 saves for the Lightning (1-3). McQueen totaled three shots on goal with Ruggeri and Lee getting two shots apiece.

Farinha and Crapanzano had four shots each, with all four of Farinha's being on goal.

Goldey-Beacom opens its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play with a home matchup against Bloomfield on September 10. The time is set for 1pm in Wilmington, DE.
