Volleyball Falls, 3-0, to Mercy



Goldey-Beacom continued to show growth under a new regime, but today was dealt a 3-0 loss (16-25, 12-25, 9-25) by Mercy at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.
 
The Mavericks (4-0) took control in the second set with an astounding .536 hitting percentage via 17 kills and just two errors.  They had a .406 percentage in the final set to end at .407 for the match.
 
Autumn Spendlove (Las Vegas, NV) notched 16 assists, fellow senior Shayla Boyce (Somerdale, NJ) pounded six kills, sophomore Piper Nanouski (Ottawa, IL) recorded five and seven digs with freshman Claudia Camporro (Gijon, Spain) amassing 10 digs for the Lightning (0-6).
 
Goldey-Beacom, under first-year coach Taylor Rapuano, had seven kills in the first set and six in the second.
 
Larissa Schneid had 17 kills and just one error for a .516 percentage, Angie Vizcaino Araujo notched 10 kills and no errors for a .625 percentage, Stephanie Lankhorst recorded a .636 percentage, Yarianne Gonzalez had 35 assists and Selma Vulic added 10 digs for Mercy.
 
Goldey-Beacom next Thursday visits Bowie State for a 6:00 pm match in Bowie, MD.
