Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Handed 4-1 Loss by Bridgeport

Goldey-Beacom knew it was in for a battle against Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference-debutant Bridgeport and more than stayed with the visitors despite the final score showing a 4-1 loss at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field in Wilmington, DE.

The Lightning in the opening half showed plenty of grit and freshman goalkeeper Oscar Tengmark (Varnamo, Sweden) continued to amaze, notching five saves in that span.  More players continued to get in the mix as the squad looks for that right formula in staying among one of the area's most respected programs.

The Purple Knights opened the scoring in the 13th minute when Henry Greiner took a cross from the right side and buried a 15-yard shot.  Jose Uresti and Lucas Sousa had the assists.

Bridgeport made it 2-0 in the 43rd minute with Sousa netting a 10-yard shot off a feed from John Louis.

Lucas Mah tallied in the 62nd minute and Greiner in the 66th minute got his second for a 4-0 lead.  Sousa on the third goal got his second assist and Jakob Reinhard had a helper on the two second-half tallies.

The Lightning cracked the scoreboard in the 78th minute.  Andres Osorio (Cali, Colombia) had the ball on the left and fed a perfect cross to fellow sophomore Sincere Kato (Woodbury, NJ), who was right on the goal line and scored his second career goal.

Tengmark notched a season-best 11 saves for the Lightning (0-10, 0-5 CACC).  Greiner had four shots with Clement Anet making five saves over 83 minutes for the Purple Knights (6-2-1, 5-0).

Goldey-Beacom on Tuesday steps out of conference to visit Millersville.  Game time is at 3:00 pm.
