Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Dealt 3-1 Loss at Jefferson

Goldey-Beacom held on for the majority of the match, but late goals resulted in a 3-1 loss in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play against Jefferson.

The Rams came out offensive minded, helping them to open the scoring in the 10th minute. Grace Kenville finished off a clearance from a corner kick.

The Lightning did not let this affect their play, equalizing before the halftime whistle. Sophomore Alyssa Ruggeri (Hockessin, Del.) finished the goal in the 23rd minute off an assist from fellow sophomore Alex Lowry (Wenonah, N.J.). Ruggeri has now scored in five straight games.

The second half showed level play until the 71st minute, when Jefferson made the score 2-1 off a goal from Nikki Dedes with an assist from Avery Nogami.

The Lightning struggled to find an answer to the Rams play, who scored their final goal in the 84th minute. Nogami scored a goal for herself off an assist from Anna Midock.

Lowry recorded three shots and one assist for the Lightning and Ruggeri totaled two shots.  Ruggeri now has 18 career goals and 53 career points.

Sophomore Nikki Cashin (Ridley, PA.) totaled five saves in her play for the Lightning.

For the Rams, Dedes ended with four shots, Kenville totaled three shots and an assist, and Gianna Garozzo finished with three shots.

Goldey-Beacom next host Bridgeport as part of a doubleheader with the men's side. The women's game is scheduled for noon.
