Volleyball Battles to the End in Tough 3-1 Loss to Georgian Court

Goldey-Beacom played arguably its finest match of the season and did so against one of the area's elite, falling in a tough 3-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match (23-25, 19-25, 25-18, 14-25) to Georgian Court at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.

GBC over the first two sets nearly matched Georgian Court in every point, only falling on the wrong end of a 25-24 kills margin.  The Lightning in the second set owned a 10-6 lead on the scoreboard before the Lions rallied.

The third set worked better for Goldey-Beacom, which got a 13-9 kills advantage and limited Georgian Court to just a .097 hitting percentage.  Sophomore Piper Nanouski (Ottawa, IL) and freshman Megan Chesser (Grove City, OH) each had four kills in the set for the Lightning.

But the Lions cemented things in the fourth, posting a 10-8 kills margin to go with a .308 percentage.  Ava Venneri notched six kills in the set with Alexa Houston adding three.

Senior Autumn Spendlove (Las Vegas, NV) totaled 40 assists and now has 1,965 career, moving her into third place in school history.  Nanouski had 12 kills, sophomore Savannah Boyce (Somerdale, NJ) recorded 10 and freshman Claudia Camporro (Gijon, Spain) amassed 14 digs for the Lightning (0-14, 0-3 CACC).

Venneri and Houston had 11 kills apiece, Iciar Zayas notched 37 assists and 13 digs with Jana Borkovic getting 14 digs for the Lions (5-8, 1-2).

Goldey-Beacom on Saturday visits Caldwell for a 4:30 pm match.
