Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Handed 2-0 Loss at Jefferson

Goldey-Beacom continued to play hard with a young lineup and once again showed plenty of grit, this time in a 2-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss at Jefferson in Philadelphia, PA.

Jefferson on the game's first goal worked the ball deep and took advantage of a long throw in the 15th minute.  After a scramble in front, Kalvin Matischak buried it off assists from Gabe Paz and Luke Wokciechowski.

The lead went to 2-0 in the 65th minute.  The Rams used a series of headers off a corner kick and the final header was by Theophilus Ijeboi, who found the back of the net.

One of the continuing stories for Goldey-Beacom is the play of freshman goalkeeper Oscar Tengmark (Varnamo, Sweden).  After missing the last two games, Tengmark regained his form in making seven saves that included some spectacular ones to keep the Lightning in the contest.

Tengmark now has 29 saves on the year over seven games, playing every minute of those contests.

Sophomore Patrick Short (Georgetown, DE) today had three shots for the Lightning (0-9, 0-4 CACC).

Ijeboi attempted five shots and Matteo Crescente recorded two saves for the Rams (4-4, 3-0).

Goldey-Beacom is home Saturday against Bridgeport as part of a doubleheader with the women's team.  The men's game is at 2:30 pm, which follows the women's noon contest.
