Goldey-Beacom ran into a test during its tri-match against Mercy and Pace, taking the latter to four grueling sets after losing to the former for a second time this season in yet another competitive day.

The match against Pace resulted in a 3-1 loss (26-24, 18-25, 20-25, 24-26) after GBC opened with a 3-0 setback (15-25, 10-25, 15-25) to Mercy, both on Pace University's campus in Pleasantville, NY.

The first set against Pace saw GBC lead most of the way.  After the Setters drew to a 24-24 tie, sophomore Piper Nanouski (Ottawa, IL) got a kill and freshman Megan Chesser (Grove City, OH) recorded an ace for the winner.

The fourth set saw the Lightning go on an 8-1 run, turning a 23-16 deficit into a 24-24 tie.  Senior Shayla Boyce (Somerdale, NJ) notched two kills in that span.

But Pace prevailed by notching 18 kills in the fourth set and getting a .333 hitting percentage.
