Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Handed 5-0 Loss by Post

Goldey-Beacom ran into the defending Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference champion and, despite its best effort, was handed a 5-0 loss by Post at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field in Wilmington, DE.

The story for the Eagles was Francisco Sousa, who recorded a natural hat trick over the game's first 27 minutes.  He was all over the place in converting a through ball, finishing a blocked shot and putting home a header that led to the 3-0 halftime score.

Deni Iljazi and Angel Morales also tallied for Post, one of five NCAA Tournament teams from last season on Goldey-Beacom's schedule.

The Lightning continued to give their all in playing a lineup in which almost everyone does not have more than two years of collegiate experience.  Sophomore Patrick Short (Georgetown, DE) once again was solid with three shots and junior Lucas Rinaldi (Santos, Brazil) made five saves in just his second game with GBC (0-8, 0-3 CACC).

Sousa had eight shots and David Mollenthiel amassed two saves over 82 minutes for the Eagles (4-2, 2-0).

Goldey-Beacom on Tuesday visits Jefferson for a 3:30 pm match in East Falls.
