Women's Soccer Gains 4-2 Victory Over Georgian Court

Impressive team play led Goldey-Beacom to a 4-2 win over Georgian Court in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference matchup in Lakewood, NJ.

The Lions struck early, with Bridgette King opening up the scoring off an assist from Marin Kulenguski in the eighth minute.

Georgian Court could not hold GBC for long. Sophomore Angela Lee (Warren, R.I.) began the scoring in the 24th minute off an assist from Ruggeri. Ruggeri produced another assist for freshman Mariah McQueen (Baltimore, MD.) shortly thereafter.

McQueen has now scored in three straight games.

In the 29th minute, Ruggeri showed her own ability to score, making it 3-1 on an unassisted play before halftime.

Aliya Canfield answered back at the beginning of the second half, receiving an assist from Sydney Kulenguski in the 57th minute to make the score 3-2.

The Lightning closed the game with a 66th-minute goal from McQueen off yet another assist from Ruggeri. This game produced a career-high three assists for Ruggeri, who also has a goal in three straight games.

Lee and McQueen finished with three shots each. Ruggeri, who on Monday was listed on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Weekly Honor Roll, totaled three shots on goal and three assists. These assists moves Ruggeri up to tied sixth in team history with 16 career assists.

Nikki Cashin (Ridley, PA) continues her tough play between the post, totaling five saves. Cashin leads the conference in saves after leading the country in saves last week.

Goldey-Beacom returns home to Nancy Churchman Sawin Field on Saturday against Post at 1pm.
