Goldey-Beacom went head-to-head with one of the perennially strong teams in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference and was handed a 3-0 setback (15-25, 12-25, 13-25) by Holy Family at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.
The Lightning showed plenty of muscle in the third set, pounding seven kills and holding the Tigers to nine. The visitors over the first two sets gained control with a 26-10 kills edge, ending the match with 35 kills and a .262 hitting percentage.
Senior Autumn Spendlove (Las Vegas, NV) continued her control of the offense with 14 assists and freshman Claudia Camporro (Gijon, Spain) once again had ownership of the defense with 17 digs for GBC (0-10, 0-1 CACC).
Morgan Steck had 28 assists, Natasha Yanief recorded nine kills and a .412 percentage with Isabella Mosquera amassing a .667 percentage for the Tigers (3-8, 1-0).
Goldey-Beacom on Thursday visits Jefferson for a 6:00 pm match in East Falls.
