Goldey-Beacom opened its tri-match in Richmond, VA with a 3-1 loss (19-25, 12-25, 25-21, 21-25) at Virginia Union before a 3-0 setback (18-25, 12-25, 19-25) against Mount Olive.
The Lightning in the third set against the Panthers were the beneficiary of 13 kills and just three errors for a .227 hitting percentage. Freshman Nina Bongiovanni (San Tan Valley, AZ) had five kills with sophomore Piper Nanouski (Ottawa, IL) and freshman Megan Chesser (Grove City, OH) getting three apiece.
Nanouski closed with 18 kills and 13 digs, senior Autumn Spendlove (Las Vegas, NV) had 27 assists and 12 digs, freshman Claudia Camporro (Gijon, Spain) recorded 24 digs, Bongiovanni amassed nine kills and 13 digs with Chesser adding 11 digs.
Amilex Lopez-Ayala had 24 kills and 20 digs for Virginia Union (3-1).
The second match saw the Lightning hold the Trojans to just nine kills in the first set. But UMO notched a 24-13 kills advantage over the final two sets.
Spendlove closed with 18 assists and Bongiovanni notched 10 digs for GBC (0-9).
Jenna Myer recorded 18 assists, Madison Goodman had 10 and Caroline Sheaffer had 12 digs for UMO (5-5).
Goldey-Beacom next Tuesday begins its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference schedule against Holy Family. First serve at the Jones Center is at 7:00 pm.
