Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Falls, 3-1, at Bloomsburg

Goldey-Beacom gave Bloomsburg a battle, but was breached for two second-half goals in a 3-1 loss in Bloomsburg, PA.

Bloomsburg grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 26th minute following a corner kick.  The attempt bounced inside the 18-yard box and the Huskies kept it in before Kody Besser fired home a shot with Patrick Walsh getting an assist.

In the 27th minute, it was the Lightning's turn to find the back of the net off a corner.  Oliver Person (Ski, Norway) lifted one from the right corner and fellow sophomore Nick Perez (Wilmington, DE) was right there, winning the header and putting it home for his first collegiate goal and a 1-1 game.

A third goal in the match also came off a corner kick, but unfortunately this went Bloomsburg's way.  Olly Whitham in the 55th minute lofted one from the left side and Anthony Schlee was there to head it inside the right post for a 2-1 margin.

The final tally was not via a set piece as the Huskies grabbed a 3-1 cushion in the 88th minute.  Sammy Ames won a 50/50 ball near the top of the box and buried it as part of a second half in which his team owned a 12-3 shots edge.

Despite the final, the game was another strong one for Goldey-Beacom (0-3) freshman Oscar Tengmark (Varnamo, Sweden).  He has continued to show great control in net on the collegiate level, displaying this in the preseason and three regular-season games.  Tonight, he closed with five saves.

Ames and Alex Wilsterman ended with four shots apiece and Brady Rimple amassed three saves for Bloomsburg (2-0).

Goldey-Beacom is back in action Saturday at West Chester.  Game time is at 1:00 pm.
