Goldey-Beacom Men's & Women's Track and Field each closed in third place at the Golden Ram Invitational in West Chester, PA.
As a team, the men recorded 119 points while the women recorded 48 to each secure a third-place ranking.
The Lightning had a handful of first place finishes on the day. Freshman Tyler Green (Middletown, Del.) recorded a first-place finish in the 400-meter dash at 50.08.
Freshman Karla Chardon (Penns Grove, N.J.) took home first place in the javelin throw at 35.66 meter.
Sophomore Jordan Cheaton (Middletown, Del.) took a first-place finish in the discus throw at 40.57 meters.
Goldey-Beacom Men's 4 x 100 Relay Team A consisting of freshman A'mair Buffaloe (prospect Park, N.J.), sophomore Khalil Proctor (Newark, Del.), junior Alex Eaddy (Townsend, Del.) and sophomore Edmond Jones (Wayne, N.J.) took a first-place finish at 44.11.
On the Men's side, freshman Jacob Wells (New Port Richey, Fla.) placed second in the javelin throw at 43.61 meters.
Freshman Derek Ongeri (Smyrna, Del.) secured second place in the high jump at 1.78 meters. Junior Eli Taylor (Smyrna, Del.) placed third in the shot put at 13.13 meters.
Cheaton had a great showing grabbing a fourth in the hammer throw at 28.55 meters and also placed seventh in the shot put at 11.42 meters.
Junior Jayden Velazquez (Middletown, Del.) placed fifth in the discus throw at 26.32 meters and closed sixth in the javelin throw at 37.64 meters.
Freshman Daniel Gordon- Brown took a sixth-place finish in the discus throw at 24.89 meters. Wells recorded a seventh-place finish in the discus throw at 20.82 meters.
On the track, sophomore Zach Landvik-Larsen (Stroudsburg, PA.) secured a second-place finish in the 1500-meter run at a time of 4:15.94.
Sophomore Mike Marioni (Glendora, N.J.) took a second-place finish in the 5000-meter race at 17:01.50.
Freshman Yusef Shakur (Townsend, DEL.) took a second-place finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase at 11:20.78 and teammate freshman Nehemiah Frazier (Laurel, MD.) closed third at 11:51.13.
Sophomore Kyle Scherer (Wilmington, Del.) finished fourth in the 1500-meter run at 4:18.52 and teammate sophomore Chris Crossen (Magnolia, Del.) closed ninth at 4:39.57.
Freshman Hezakiah Ali-Bentley (Dover, Del.) closed in seventh place in the 400-meter dash at 53.61 with teammates sophomores Emmanuel Otsyina (Aston, PA) taking eighth place at 53.85 and Proctor closed right behind in ninth place at 54.89.
Freshman Brian Mohamed finished ninth-place finish in the 880-meter run at 2:06.13. Teammate sophomore Micah White closed in tenth place at 2:06.15.
On the Women's side, sophomore Zhuri Cannon (Columba, MD.) took fourth place in the 400-meter hurdles at 1:20.23 while teammate freshman Ida Rose Moore (Bear, Del.) placed fifth at 1:22.20.
The Women's 4 x 100 relay team A consisting of juniors Kayla Cook (Hebron, MD.) and Asia Hollis (Rising Sun, MD) and freshman's Ellonah Lewis (North East, MD.) and Juanita Wiggins (Hampton, VA.) took a third-place finish at 51.54.
Chardon closed in seventh place in the 200-meter dash at 27.49. Teammate freshman Juanita Wiggins (Hampton, VA.) took tenth place in the 200-meter dash at 27.66.
Sophomore Hailey Crawford (Newark, Del.) closed seventh in the 400-meter race at 1:05.14.
Freshman Maddie Cool (Smyrna, Del.) placed seventh in the 800-meter run at 2:35.93.
Last week's CACC Honor Roll selection sophomore Mikayla Cannon (Felton, Del.) placed ninth in the 1500-meter run at 5:25.34.
From the field, prior week honor roll selection in junior Alexis Harrison (Millville, N.J.) placed fourth in the shot put at 11.72 meters. Harrison finished sixth in the discus throw at 33.94 meters.
Sophomore Alexia Cornish (Milford, Del.) took sixth in the shot put at 10.99 meters.
Chardon also placed seventh in the shot put at 10.74 meters.
Junior Tiarah Martin (Federalsburg, MD.) placed tenth in the shot put at 9.61 meters.
Remarks from head coach Andy Shearer, "Saturday was mixed news for us. We struggled a bit in the cold weather and suffered a few injuries as a result. But 3rd for both squads and 7 more CACC qualifying marks warmed things up a bit."
Goldey-Beacom returns to action on Saturday, April 23 as the teams travel to Baltimore, MD to compete in the Morgan State Legacy meet. Events begin at 9am.
