Two More for Basketball Earn CACC Weekly Accolades

The awards for Goldey-Beacom's basketball teams kept rolling in with freshman Zayon Marsh (Maplewood, NJ) named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week and senior Alanna Speaks (Dover, DE) picked to the Women's Basketball Weekly Honor Roll a second straight week.
 
Marsh averaged 24.0 points on 59 percent shooting (19-of-32) and 8.5 rebounds over two games.  He went on a tear Saturday at Bloomsburg, scoring 26 points on 11-of-18 shooting with six rebounds and two blocks in Goldey-Beacom's 84-75 victory.  Marsh previously had 22 points on 8-of-14 shooting and 11 rebounds for her first double-double Wednesday at the District of Columbia.
 
Marsh has played exceptionally well in the early going, averaging 22.3 points and 8.3 rebounds over his last three games with 15 three-pointers.  He is fourth in the CACC with 18.5 points per game, eighth with 7.3 rebounds per contest and eighth with 27 field goals.
 
Speaks averaged 16.0 points and 4.5 rebounds over two games.  She had a season-best 17 points, matched her season high with seven rebounds and tied her career best with six steals Saturday vs. Seton Hill.  She also had 15 points and four steals Wednesday at Southern Connecticut State.
 
Speaks is on another tear by scoring in double figures all four games and getting at least six rebounds three times.  She is eighth in the conference with 14.5 points per game, seven with a .815 free throw percentage and 21st with 5.5 rebounds per contest.
 
Both teams return to action Tuesday.  The women's team is home against Millersville at 6:00 pm and the men's squad is at Kutztown for a 7:30 pm contest.
