Women's Soccer Notches 4-0 Victory Over Alliance on Senior Day

Goldey-Beacom continue their winning ways with a 4-0 win over Alliance University on senior day in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field.

The Lightning honored senior Jaida Brown (Millville, N.J.) and junior Hanna Clake (Earleville, MD) in today's match. Brown has been a solid contributor in midfield for the Lightning for four years, while Clarke has shown her athleticism upfront.

The score opened up in the 23rd minute after freshman Kaitlyn Nolan (Central Valley, N.Y.) found sophomore Alex Lowry (Wenonah, N.J.) on a long cross at the back post. Lowry finished a beautiful header to the bottom right corner.

The Lightning closed out the match with three second half goals. The first came just after the second half whistle from Alyssa Ruggeri (Hockessin, Del.), who finished a rebound from her own shot off the post, 2-0.

Ruggeri found herself again on the stat sheet with an assist in the 53rd minute. A short ball to the left side found sophomore Paulimar Coll (Grantcille, PA) in the 53rd minute, who found the back of the net over the top of goalkeeper Celine Grothe. The final goal was finished by Ruggeri in the 55th minute, following a short cross to the middle from sophomore Angela Lee and a 10-yard tap. Ruggeri now totals nine goals on the season.

Ruggeri totaled six shots, Lee tallied three, while Coll, Lowry and freshman Mariah McQueen (Baltimore, MD) recorded two of their own.

For Alliance, Lara Noe totaled three shots, while Grothe notched seven saves.

Goldey-Beacom return to Nancy Churchman Sawin Field on Tuesday for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference matchup against Chestnut Hill, at 3pm.
