Men's Soccer Fall Short in a 3-1 Loss Against Alliance on Senior Day



Goldey-Beacom found themselves falling just short in a 3-1 loss to Alliance University in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field on senior day.

The Lightning honored juniors Abdoul Konate (New Castle, Del.) and Roger Buesmail (Newark, Del.) in today's match, two players who have helped on the offensive end for the Lightning.

Scoring was opened up by Alliance in the 10th minute after Javier Plaza played the ball across the box from the left to Matteo Guerrini for a five-yard tap at the back post. Guerrini again found the back of the net in the 34th minute from a 27-yard free kick, a tough shot for freshman Oscar Tengmark (Varnamo, Sweden) to save.

The Lightning put pressure on Alliance, changing the score to 2-1 in the 35th minute following the ball found junior Johan Hajj from a deflection off a shot from sophomore Dominique Ojeil (Falkenberg, Sweden).

Alliance closed out the match with another goal from Guerrini, who finished off his hat-trick in the 51st minute. Tengmark saved a shot from Miguel Andrade, placing the ball at Guerrini's feet to finish the shot.

Sophomore Nick Perez (Wilmington, Del.) tallied 3 shots for the Lightning, while Ojeil added two of his own. Tengmark finished with three saves on the match.

Guerrini ended the match with five shots, Plaza tallied three and Andrade notched two.

Goldey-Beacom return to Nancy Churchman Sawin Field on Wednesday against Chestnut Hill for Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play. The match begins at 3:30pm.
