Alyssa Ruggeri Breaks Single-Season Assist Record in 2-0 Win at Wilmington (DE)



Sophomore Alyssa Ruggeri (Hockessin, Del.) reached 13 assists to break Goldey-Beacom's single-season assist record in a 2-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference win at Wilmington (DE) in Newark, DE.
 
The second half provided action after a scoreless first half, with the Lightning totaling 14 shots in the second half and keeping the Wildcats to zero shots. Ruggeri, who has been sensational this season, reached her 13th assist of the season in the 71st minute, crossing the ball off a corner kick to sophomore Kira Cohen (Reisterstown, MD), who gave the Lightning a 1-0 lead.
 
Ruggeri was again in the play in the 82nd minute, scoring off an assist from sophomore Angela Lee (Warren, R.I.), crossing the ball from right to left.  
 
Sophomore Paulimar Coll (Grantville, PA) tallied six shots, while Ruggeri and freshman Mariah McQueen notched four apiece. Sophomore Jennifer Mejia (State College, PA) recorded four saves for her first career win.
 
Annie Holst totaled two shots for the Wildcats, with goalkeeper Mio Nakajima notching six saves.
 
Goldey-Beacom will compete in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Quarterfinals on Monday as the number four seed and will host fifth-seeded Holy Family.  Game time at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field is at 1:00 pm.
