Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Alex Lowry Puts A Brace on Women’s Soccer’s 3-0 Win at Felician, Clinching the Team’s Eighth Straight CACC Tournament Berth

Sophomore Alex Lowry (Wenonah, NJ) recorded her second brace of the season and it was more than enough for Goldey-Beacom, which clinched its latest berth into the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament with a 3-0 victory at Felician in Lyndhurst, NJ.

The Lightning are in the CACC Tournament for a school-record eighth straight season, a run that so far has included three trips in that span to the semifinals (2017-19).

Goldey-Beacom (8-7-1, 6-4-1 CACC) goes into the final day of the regular season tied for third place with Chestnut Hill (5-2-4) and Post (6-4-1) at 19 points.  Only two of these schools will be among the league's top four teams and earn a home quarterfinal game in the CACC Tournament.

Lowry, who has been a dynamo since last fall both for the soccer and softball teams, got the Lightning on the board in the 19th minute.  She got the ball at the top of the box and lifted a shot over the head of goalkeeper Julia Aguilar.

Lowry again was there for Goldey-Beacom in a big spot, giving her squad a 2-0 lead.  Junior Hanna Clarke (Earleville, MD) fed her on a breakaway in the 24th minute and Lowry put it home for a massive tally.

It was Lowry's seventh goal of the season and ninth career.  Her first brace occurred in the season opener August 26 against Saint Thomas Aquinas.

Sophomore Angela Lee (Warren, RI) added the exclamation point in the 89th minute, recording her seventh goal of the season and 12th career.

Lowry closed with six shots and sophomore Jennifer Mejia (State College, PA) came off the bench to record six saves for the Lightning, who moved to 5-1-1 in their last seven outings.  Julia Vaas had five shots and Aguilar recorded six saves for the Golden Falcons (2-13-2, 1-10).

Goldey-Beacom on Tuesday heads to Newark for a 3:30 pm match against Wilmington (DE).
