VICTORY: Volleyball Upends Cheyney, 3-0



Goldey-Beacom ran away and hid in the first set and kept things in cruise control the rest of the way, rolling to a 3-0 triumph (25-8, 25-16, 25-10) over Cheyney for its first victory of the year.
 
The Lightning in the opening set rode the play of sophomore Piper Nanouski (Ottawa, IL), who notched seven kills and no errors over nine attacks in that span for a .778 hitting percentage.  Senior Autumn Spendlove (Las Vegas, NV) recorded 10 assists in that time for Goldey-Beacom, which recorded a .550 percentage in the set thanks to 13 kills and just two errors over 20 swings.
 
Goldey-Beacom in the final set amassed 14 kills and only two errors over 19 attacks for a .632 percentage.  Sophomore Savannah Boyce (Somerdale, NJ) ended the set with four kills.
 
Nanouski closed with 10 kills and just two errors over 16 attacks for a .500 percentage for GBC, which had 37 kills and 12 aces.  Spendlove notched 29 assists and four aces with junior Rachel Cohen (Port Deposit, MD) adding eight digs.
 
Kennedy Jones and Jireh Kelly recorded six kills apiece for the Wolves (3-10).
 
Goldey-Beacom on Saturday is on the road to face Alliance.  Match time in Jersey City, NJ is at 5:00 pm.
