Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Falls, 1-0, at Caldwell

Goldey-Beacom played a fairly even game on the field with Caldwell, but it was not even on the scoreboard with the former being dealt a 1-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss in Caldwell, NJ.

Caldwell got on the board in the 23rd minute.  Megan Feehan sent a long free kick that went into the box for Alexa Peto, who buried it to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead.

The margin would have grown if not for the play of sophomore goalkeeper Nikki Cashin (Ridley, PA), picked today to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll.  Cashin late in the first half was on the spot for a leaping save off a header from Brianna Lewis that was ticketed for the net.

The Lightning had their chances, but the Cougars defensively held things down by allowing just three shots from the visitors in the second half.

Cashin ended with four saves and freshman Mariah McQueen (Baltimore, MD) attempted three shots for the Lightning, who had their four-game winning streak snapped.

Ariana Gaminara made six saves with Peto and Taylor Gutierrez getting three shots apiece for the Cougars (4-7-4, 3-4-3 CACC).

Goldey-Beacom (7-7, 5-4) remains tied for fourth place in the CACC with Holy Family (4-1-3) and Chestnut Hill (4-2-3) with all possessing 15 points.  The league's top four teams host a quarterfinal game October 31 in the CACC Tournament.

Goldey-Beacom is home Thursday against Holy Family, beginning at 3:00 pm.
