Basketball Gets Two on the CACC Weekly Honor Roll

1/24/2022 12:00:00 AM

Goldey-Beacom received more awards with junior Juran Ligonde (Boston, MA) named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Basketball Weekly Honor Roll and sophomore Briana Seltzer (Reading, PA) picked to the Women's Basketball Weekly Honor Roll.

This is Ligonde's third selection to the Weekly Honor Roll this season after last Monday's selection as the league's Player of the Week.  Seltzer this season has been named to the Weekly Honor Roll four times.

Ligonde averaged 17.0 points on 52 percent shooting (14-of-27) and 10.0 rebounds over two games with seven assists.  He was a force Saturday against Staten Island with a career-best 27 points on 11-of-19 shooting and 12 rebounds in Goldey-Beacom's 95-80 win.

Ligonde has been a major reason why the Lightning (9-7, 5-2 CACC) have won four straight games and sit in third place in the CACC South Division.  His prowess has helped him to two double-doubles this season and he is averaging 19.3 points and 9.5 rebounds over his last four contests.

He is 61st in the country with a .565 field goal percentage (fourth in the CACC), seventh in the league with 7.8 rebounds per game, 20th with six blocks and 21st with 74 field goals.

Seltzer ended with 23 points on 8-of-16 shooting with three rebounds, three steals and two assists in Goldey-Beacom's 74-53 victory Tuesday at Wilmington.

Seltzer has provided a huge lift to the backcourt and has been one of the squad's most reliable players this season.  She has scored at least 20 points three times this season and is averaging 18.3 points over her last three contests.

She is fourth in the CACC with 15.1 points per game, fourth with a .833 free throw percentage, fifth with 28 three-pointers, ninth with 82 field goals, 12th with 44 assists and 17th with 20 steals.

Both teams on Wednesday visit Georgian Court with the women's contest starting at 6:00 pm and the men's game beginning at 8:00 pm.
