Women's Soccer Loses Tough Game, 4-3, To Wilmington U.

Goldey-Beacom faced a tough loss after an 90th-minute goal broke the tie, resulting in a 4-3 setback against Wilmington (DE) University on Wednesday in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference matchup at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field.

The Lightning held a 1-0 lead at the half behind an unassisted rebound off a cross, goal by freshman Paulimar Coll (Grantville, Pa.), her second of the season.

The Wildcats had an answer in the second half, tying the game 1-1 after an unassisted goal from Manuela Restrepo in the 54th minute. The lead was taken in the 57th minute when Krysta Memis netted a goal on an assist from Alexis Johnson for the 2-1 advantage.

Trailing by a goal, GBC got one back as freshman Angela Lee (Warren, R.I) scored her first goal of the season to tie the game, 2-2, with an assist to Melayna Immediato (Hockessin, Del.) at the 67th minute.

Immediato's second assist of the game was her 16th career, moving her into a tie for fifth in team history.

Lee went on the attack again in the 71st minute, netting a goal on a cross from fellow freshman Alyssa Ruggeri (Hockessin, Del.) for a 3-2 lead.

Within the same minute, the Wildcats capitalized off a wild scramble in front that resulted in an unassisted goal from Lauren Hoelke for the 3-3 tie.

In the 90th minute with overtime looming, the Wildcats took the lead, 4-3, on a goal by Jimena Garcia Risoto, assisted by Rockesha Dayes, leaving the Lightning no time to attack once more.
