The ascent of Goldey-Beacom's volleyball program hit a slight detour with the squad handed a 3-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss (20-25, 10-25, 8-25) at Holy Family in Philadelphia, PA.
Goldey-Beacom in the opening set forced the reigning CACC champion into 10 errors and held it to only a .060 hitting percentage. Freshman Piper Nanouski (Ottawa, IL) had four kills in the set and senior Neyshlian Roman Concepcion (Toa Baja, PR) recorded eight digs, but the Lightning only could get a .098 percentage.
The Tigers had their way over the last two sets, owning a 24-5 kills edge that included a .391 percentage in the final set.
Roman Concepcion ended with 21 digs, junior Shayla Boyce (Somerdale, NJ) had six kills and freshman Rylen Carroll (Monroe, OH) totaled six assists for the Lightning (5-10 1-4 CACC).
Allyssa Hartney amassed nine kills, Morgan Silks dished 31 assists and Maeve Boylan notched 11 digs for the Tigers (9-2, 4-0).
Goldey-Beacom is home Saturday against Nyack, beginning at noon.
