Volleyball Records 3-1 Victory Over Nyack

Goldey-Beacom was given a major test by Nyack in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference interdivision matchup before finally prevailing in 3-1 triumph (25-18, 25-23, 25-27, 25-23) at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.

It was smooth sailing in the opening set with the Lightning scoring the match's first 10 points, keyed by three kills in that span from freshman Piper Nanouski (Ottawa, IL).  Goldey-Beacom pounded 10 kills in the set and held Nyack to a -.030 percentage.

The Lightning in the third set scored 10 straight points to go up 16-10 and eventually led 22-16 before the Warriors scored the next seven for a 23-22 lead.  GBC had a match point at 24-23, but Nyack won four of the next five points that were aided by two kills from Ashlyn Couch.

Goldey-Beacom finally took care of business in the fourth set, getting 13 kills that included five from Nanouski, to end the match with a 47-46 edge.

Freshman Rylen Carroll (Monroe, OH) got 37 assists and 16 digs for her first collegiate double-double.  Senior Neyshlian Roman Concepcion (Toa Baja, PR) recorded 35 digs after entering the contest seventh in the country both in digs and digs per set.

Nanouski had 17 kills, senior Courtney Bublitz (North East, MD) added 11 digs with juniors Julia Syrdahl (Basking Ridge, NJ) and Shayla Boyce (Somerdale, NJ) getting nine kills apiece for the Lightning (6-10, 2-4 CACC).

Syrdahl also had five blocks and now is seventh in school history with 158 career.

Couch notched 15 kills to go with 13 digs and British Dawson had 30 digs one match after setting the CACC record with 47 last Saturday at Caldwell.  Gabrielle Carbonel dished 22 assists and Kristen Bernal added 16 for the Warriors (0-10, 0-4).
