Goldey-Beacom came out striking bright and early Saturday morning, capturing a 3-0 shutout victory over Post University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference matchup in Waterbury, CT.
The Lightning set the tone of the game early, after senior Taylor Owen (Pittsburgh, PA) drilled in a goal (1-0) in the 15th minute. It was her second goal of the season and was assisted by freshman Alyssa Ruggeri (Hockessin, Del.).
All gas, no brakes for the Lightning from then on, notching another goal (2-0), unassisted, in the 21st minute by freshman Paulimar Coll (Grantville, Pa.) for her first of the season.
The Eagles were unable to find an answer as the Lightning sealed the victory with yet another goal on the day coming from junior Melayna Immediato (Hockessin, Del.) in the 85th minute.
Sophomore Noel Talbot (Westminster, MD) recorded two saves for the Lightning.
