Volleyball Continues Outstanding Play With 3-1 Win Over Chestnut Hill

Goldey-Beacom has shown decided improvement in the early season and that continued in a solid 3-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory (25-19, 18-25, 25-23, 25-19) over Chestnut Hill at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.

The third set was a wild and thrilling ride in which the Lightning owned a 15-7 lead before the Griffins chipped away before taking a 23-22 lead.  But Goldey-Beacom muscled its way to the next three points, keyed by a kill from junior Julia Syrdahl (Basking Ridge, NJ) before two attack errors.

The fourth set saw Goldey-Beacom own a 13-6 lead and take control from there, recording eight kills that included three from Syrdahl.  The defense also did its part, forcing the Griffins into nine attack errors.

Junior Autumn Spendlove (Las Vegas, NV) continued her control of the offense with 33 assists and 18 digs, notching her fourth double-double of the season and 18th career.  She reached that double-double in the second set, totaling 15 assists and 13 digs midway through the match.

Syrdahl notched 11 kills and a .381 hitting percentage, senior Neyshlian Roman Concepcion (Toa Baja, PR) recorded 17 digs and freshman Piper Nanouski (Ottawa, IL) had 11 digs for the Lightning (5-8, 1-2 CACC), who have won four of their last seven matches.

Syrdahl also had four blocks, moving into eighth place in team history with 151 career.

Erika Dobosky notched 14 kills and 20 digs, Mia Caporellie totaled 29 assists and 15 digs, Leah Miller pounded 10 kills and Mikayla Grimes recorded 13 digs for the Griffins (2-6, 0-2).
