Volleyball Falls, 3-0, at Georgian Court



Goldey-Beacom continued to run into the elite of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference early in the season and was handed a 3-0 loss (20-25, 22-25, 19-25) by Georgian Court in Lakewood, NJ.
 
Goldey-Beacom in the opening set got nine assists from Autumn Spendlove (Las Vegas, NV) and three kills from fellow junior Shayla Boyce (Somerdale, NJ), but Georgian Court was the beneficiary of 12 kills.
 
The second set was another close battle in which freshman Piper Nanouski (Ottawa, IL) kept the Lightning in it with five kills.  But the Lions had 14 kills in that span with just three errors for a .324 hitting percentage.
 
The Lions continued their momentum in the third set by scoring the first six points and closing the stanza with 12 kills.
 
Nanouski ended with 11 kills and 10 digs for her second double-double of the year, Spendlove dished 28 assists and senior Neyshlian Roman Concepcion (Toa Baja, PR) closed with 13 digs for the Lightning (4-8, 0-2 CACC).

Boyce ended with six kills and now has 844 career, moving into fifth place in team history.
 
Nahomie Alejandro Negron ended with 12 kills, Trilby Kite recorded 16 assists and 10 digs, Nylene Mateo amassed 10 kills and Kinsy Haschke notched 16 digs for the Lions (10-1, 2-0).
 
Goldey-Beacom is home Thursday against Chestnut Hill for a 7:00 pm match.
