Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Dealt 2-0 Loss at Holy Family

Goldey-Beacom made the trip to Philadelphia for its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opener, but was handed a 2-0 loss at Holy Family.

Holy Family struck first in the 16th minute.  Joel Richmond sent a cross into the box from the left side and David Habilaj knocked it home for his third goal of the season.

The Lightning looked to keep it at just a one-goal deficit before the half, but the Tigers made it 2-0 in the 41st minute on a beautiful tally.  Mohamed Elgayar launched one into the box from about 25 yards and Sean Touey headed it just inside the right post for his third goal of the year.

It remained a tightly contested match the rest of the way and the score stayed at 2-0, thanks to a sensational save from GBC junior goalkeeper Pedro Santolaya (Madrid, Spain) on Georg Montag's penalty kick in the 89th minute.

Junior Eduardo Coimbra (Curitiba, Brazil) ended with three shots and senior Alejandro Varela (Cali, Colombia) had two for the Lightning (1-4, 0-1 CACC).  Santolaya closed with three saves.

Montag attempted three shots and Mark Tobin had three saves for the Tigers (2-3-1, 1-0).

Goldey-Beacom is back on the road Saturday to visit Post as part of a doubleheader with the women's team.  Please note the men's game begins at 2:00 pm, which follows the women's 11:00 am contest.
