Goldey-Beacom was left with no answers for Bloomsburg, which jumped to an early lead in the first half and ultimately dealt the home side a 6-1 loss at Chase Fieldhouse in Wilmington, DE.
In the first minute, a steal from Nicole Varano on the outside with an assist to Paige Harris fueled the early 1-0 lead. The Huskies kept the momentum going, notching two more goals with a header by Kate Schlotter in the 12th minute and a through ball shot inside the left post from Verano, assisted by Abby Groff and Alexa Ryan during the 24th minute.
Trailing 3-0, the Lightning achieved a 20-yard unassisted goal in the 39th minute from senior Taylor Owen (Pittsburgh, PA). She recorded two shots with two shots on goal for the day.
Bloomsburg sealed its position with three more goals to close the game.
Groff in the 53rd minute recorded a goal assisted by Campbell Power. Verano tallied her second goal of the day in the 65th minute on a cross from the right side, assisted by Emily Clauss. Brooke Foster ended the game with the final goal for the Huskies assisted by Clauss.
Alexa Ryan closed with three saves for the Huskies (1-0).
Goldey-Beacom has a day of rest before they return to their home field on Saturday hosting Daemen for a 1:00 pm matchup.
