Goldey-Beacom fell to Chestnut Hill College in a heartbreaking, double-overtime game 2-1 to open Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action on the road in Lafayette Hill, PA.
The Griffins took a 1-0 advantage in the 10th minute after Maddie Jimenez drilled in a rebound off the defender.
The Lightning found new life in the 48th minute. Senior Line Kristoffersen (Bergen, Norway) gathered the loose ball that struck the net for the 1-1 tie to force overtime.
Kristoffersen now has 56 career points, moving the two-time reigning CoSIDA Academic All-District selection into eighth place in school history. Her 21st career goal still has her ninth.
In the second overtime, the Griffins forced a foul in the box by the Lightning that gained a penalty kick. Lizzie Stokes drilled it in the 110th minute for the victory.
Sophomore Noel Talbot (Westminster, MD) totaled two saves for the Lightning. Freshman Nikki Cashin (Ridley, PA) played 45 minutes, totaling a pair of saves.
Goldey-Beacom returns to action on Wednesday as it travels to Philadelphia, PA to face Holy Family University. Game time set for 4 PM.
