Game Recap: Volleyball |

Volleyball Plays Great in 3-1 Loss to Jefferson

The continued improvement of Goldey-Beacom's volleyball team is apparent with each match and that progress forward showed in a tough 3-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss (19-25, 14-25, 25-21, 25-19) to Jefferson at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.

The Lightning, who entered with victories in three of their last four matches, came out on fire in the third set.  They got 14 kills and a .256 hitting percentage in their progress of showing great cohesiveness.  Junior Shayla Boyce (Somerdale, NJ) and freshman Piper Nanouski (Ottawa, IL) each had four kills in that set.

But the Rams ended things in the fourth with 12 kills and a .419 percentage, despite the Lightning amassing 12 kills and just one error for a .324 percentage.

Boyce closed with 12 kills, Julia Syrdahl (Basking Ridge, NJ) had 11, fellow junior Autumn Spendlove (Las Vegas, NV) dished 39 assists, senior Neyshlian Roman Concepcion (Toa Baja, PR) notched 25 digs with Nanouski getting eight kills and 15 digs for the Lightning (3-6, 0-1 CACC).

Jess Molen had 20 kills, Morgan Ritchie notched 18 and 12 digs, Kerrigan Candra totaled 12 kills and Cameron Johnson had 18 digs for the Rams (9-0, 1-0), who lost a set for the first time in their last seven matches.

Goldey-Beacom this Saturday hosts a tri-match against Bowie State at noon and West Chester at 4:00 pm.
