Goldey-Beacom faced a 2-1 setback on the road Friday evening in a non-conference matchup against the University of Bridgeport in Bridgeport, CT.
The Lightning took a 1-0 lead on a shot to the corner off a cross goal by freshman Alyssa Ruggeri (Hockessin, Del.), assisted by fellow freshman Kira Cohen (Reisterstown, MD) at the 21st minute. In just two games, Ruggeri netted two goals in just three games to start the season after receiving CACC Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week honors following week one.
The Purple Knights responded in the 25th minute with through ball to the middle goal from Kate Thill, on an assist by Leigh-Ann Ramsey.
Bridgeport sealed the victory in the 78th minute on a corner kick, cross to back post header by Andrea Basilicato. Angelina LoFranco got the assist on Basilicato's second goal of the season.
Sophomore Noel Talbot (Westminster, MD) totaled six saves for the Lightning (1-2).
Goldey-Beacom kicks off conference action next Thursday as it travels to Lafayette Hill, PA to face Chestnut Hill at 7pm.
