Garrett Musey Named CACC Baseball Player and Rookie of the Week; Mitch Guerrieri Picked to Weekly Honor Roll

Goldey-Beacom freshman first baseman Garrett Musey (Millville, NJ), who has been on a tear in just over the last week, was named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Baseball Player and Rookie of the Week with junior pitcher Mitch Guerrieri (Greentown, PA) picked to the league's Weekly Honor Roll.
 
Musey batted .478 (11-for-23) over seven games with three doubles, a triple, four home runs and 10 RBI.  He went 3-for-3 in game one Tuesday at Dominican (NY) with a double, triple and a home run.  Musey then had two home runs and three RBI in game two.  He came back with two hits, a home run and three RBI in game one Thursday at U. of the Sciences before rapping two hits with a double in game one Sunday vs. Wilmington.
 
It truly has been a remarkable run of late for Musey, who over his last 10 games is batting .528 (19-for-36) with three doubles, a triple, seven home runs and 16 RBI.  He has a hit in nine of those contests and three hits in three of those games.
 
Musey entered the day 10th in the country with a .881 slugging percentage, 37th with a .521 on-base percentage, 50th with 0.33 home runs per game and 55th with a .407 batting average.  His seven home runs are tied for the school's single-season mark, set in 2019 by sophomore Connor Megginson (Harbeson, DE).
 
Guerrieri struck out eight over seven innings, yielding one run and six hits in Goldey-Beacom's 20-1 victory Thursday over University of the Sciences.
 
Guerrieri this season owns a 1.93 ERA and hitters are batting just .229 off him.
 
In just its fifth season, Goldey-Beacom (17-5, 16-5 CACC) is enjoying a remarkable campaign in which it entered Monday in first place in the CACC South Division and has recorded a pair of eight-game winning streaks.  The team is 14th in the country with a .333 batting average, 17th with 2.41 doubles per game, 24th with a .428 on-base percentage and 24th with a .527 slugging percentage.
 
Goldey-Beacom entered Monday with a doubleheader against Felician (16-11, 14-3 CACC), which is in first place in the CACC North Division.  GBC ends its regular season Tuesday at home against Post, beginning at noon in Hockessin, DE.
