Goldey-Beacom sophomore second baseman Connor Megginson (Harbeson, DE) continued to rake in the awards with him being tabbed the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association East Region Hitter of the Week.

This marks the second straight week the Lightning were feted with award as freshman first baseman Garrett Musey (Millville, NJ) took home the honor May 6.

Megginson, also named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference's Player of the Week, hit .400 (6-for-15) over four games with three home runs and nine RBI.  Game one May 4 against Post was his show by setting school records with three home runs and eight RBI in Goldey-Beacom's 13-3 triumph.  Megginson hit a grand slam in the fourth inning, a two-run shot in the fifth and a solo blast in the sixth.

Megginson has grabbed the reins at second base and has not let go, displaying a great deal of poise and a tremendous amount of ability.  He is 19th in the CACC with a .360 batting average, 23rd with three home runs, 23rd with 32 hits, 30th with a .517 slugging percentage and 41st with a .416 on base percentage.

Goldey-Beacom (20-7) this season has recorded a school record in victories and is ranked fifth in the East Region according to the NCBWA.  The team also won the CACC South Division, went on a pair of eight-game winning streaks and opened 8-0 for the best start in program history.  GBC has outscored its opponents 242-107, is first in the league with a .336 batting average, first with 33 home runs and second with a 4.09 ERA.

Goldey-Beacom will wait to see if it receives an at-large berth into the NCAA Tournament.  The selection show is Sunday, May 23 at 10:00 pm on NCAA.com.
