Connor Megginson Picked CACC Baseball Player of the Week; Mitch Guerrieri Named to Weekly Honor Roll

Goldey-Beacom's sophomore second baseman Connor Megginson (Harbeson, DE) was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Baseball Player of the Week and junior pitcher Mitch Guerrieri (Greentown, PA) was picked to the league's Weekly Honor Roll.
 
Megginson hit .400 (6-for-15) over four games with three home runs and nine RBI.  Game one Tuesday against Post was his show by setting school records with three home runs and eight RBI in Goldey-Beacom's 13-3 triumph.  Megginson hit a grand slam in the fourth inning, a two-run shot in the fifth and a solo blast in the sixth.
 
Megginson has grabbed the reins at second base and has not let go, displaying a great deal of poise and a tremendous amount of ability.  He is 19th in the CACC with a .360 batting average, 23rd with three home runs, 22nd with 32 hits and 31st with a .517 slugging percentage.
 
Guerrieri struck out seven over seven innings in Goldey-Beacom's 13-3 triumph Tuesday over Post.  He is 10th in the league with three wins, 24th with a .225 batting average against and 32nd with 23 strikeouts.
 
Goldey-Beacom (20-7) this season has recorded a school record in victories and is ranked fifth in the East Region according to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).  The team also won the CACC South Division, went on a pair of eight-game winning streaks and opened 8-0 for the best start in program history.  GBC has outscored its opponents 242-107, is first in the league with a .336 batting average, first with 33 home runs and second with a 4.09 ERA.
 
Goldey-Beacom will wait to see if it receives an at-large berth into the NCAA Tournament.  The selection show is Sunday, May 23 at 10:00 pm on NCAA.com.
