Game Recap: Baseball |

Baseball Triumphs Over Dominican (NY)

Goldey-Beacom was electric on Tuesday as it faced Dominican (NY), clinching game one 8-2 behind a 3-for-3, three-RBI performance from freshman Garrett Musey (Millville, NJ) and completing the sweep in game two 10-3 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference matchup in Pomona, NY.

In game one, the Lightning jumped to an early lead going up 2-0 after a home run by sophomore Mason Maxwell (Newfield, NJ). The drive didn't stop there after a pair of home runs from Musey in the sixth inning and sophomore Marshall Awtry (Hockessin, DE) in the seventh lifted the lead to 6-0.

Musey was not done there after hitting a triple in the inning, scoring freshman Kyle Walker (Wilmington, DE) and senior Ivan Solis (La Chorrea, Panama), leaving no room for the Chargers to come close to the 8-0 lead.

The Chargers hit two runs after a triple from Nathanael Slotkin, scoring Max Chidsey followed up by a double from Joshua Colon, scoring Slotkin.

Souderton, PA freshman Luke Taylor (1-0) pitched five innings, struck out five, allowing no runs, three hits and a single walk for his first win of the season.

In game two, the Lightning kept the momentum with a two-run homer by Musey in the fourth and a two-run homer later in the frame by senior Justin Hill (Seaford, DE) for the 4-0 lead.

The Chargers had a response in the fifth inning after RBI singles by Richard Paulino, Carmine Giordano and Pavlos Papoutsakis lifted them within 4-3.

Musey added a solo blast in the sixth inning for a 5-0 lead and now hit six home runs in his last five games.

Several fielding errors in the seventh inning sealed the win for the Lightning in the sweep in game two, 10-3.

Wilmington, DE senior Trevor Jump (4-0) gained his fourth win of the season in a complete game pitching seven innings, striking out six and allowing eight hits, three runs and three walks.

Goldey-Beacom (14-3, 13-3 CACC) holds first place in the CACC South Division. Based on the NCBWA East Region Poll, Goldey-Beacom ranks eighth in the region prior to today's games.

Goldey-Beacom travels across town on Wednesday to face Wilmington University in a single game starting at 3PM.
