Volleyball Rolls to 3-0 Victory Over Post

Goldey-Beacom snagged the momentum in the opening set and left no doubt in a 3-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference win (25-18, 25-17, 25-21) over Post at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.

Goldey-Beacom established control in the opening set and never looked back, owning a 13-9 kills edge and limiting the visitors to just a .059 hitting percentage.  Junior Julia Syrdahl (Basking Ridge, NJ) and freshman Savannah Boyce (Somerdale, NJ) each had four kills in the set with junior Shayla Boyce (Somerdale, NJ) adding three.

While the match ended with each team getting 33 kills, the Lightning's defense played a huge role in forcing 21 attack errors and only getting breached for a .129 hitting percentage.

Syrdahl again showed consistently strong play at the net, ending with 11 kills and just one error over 19 attacks for a .526 percentage.  It is the seventh time this season the five-time member of the CACC Weekly Honor Roll has notched at least a .500 percentage.

Syrdahl now has 615 career kills, moving her into 10th place in school history.  Her 182 career blocks keeps her in sixth place.

Freshman Rylen Carroll (Monroe, OH) had 26 assists and senior Neyshlian Roman Concepcion (Toa Baja, PR) notched 17 digs for the Lightning (8-18, 4-12 CACC).  Roman Concepcion now stands at 1,121 career digs, good for sixth in team annals.

Shayla Boyce ended with five kills and is at 968 career, placing her in a tie for third with 2018 GBC Hall-of-Famer Norah Burdette.

Madelynn Boop recorded 11 kills with Colleen Romero getting 19 assists for Post (8-18, 5-9).

Goldey-Beacom is back in action Saturday to visit Bloomfield for a noon match.
