Volleyball Shows Great Promise in 3-1 Loss to Holy Family



Goldey-Beacom gave first-place Holy Family a battle and took the match to a fourth set in a 3-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference setback (16-25, 12-25, 25-20, 17-25) at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.

The Lightning in the third set went on a tear with a solid .393 hitting percentage, getting 12 kills and just one error over 28 attacks.  The Tigers, who already had clinched the top seed in the CACC South Division, committed seven errors in the stanza and notched a .158 percentage.

But Holy Family withstood a charge in the fourth set, getting 13 kills and a .303 percentage to end the match.

Junior Julia Syrdahl (Basking Ridge, NJ) again was on a roll with 13 kills, a .550 hitting percentage and two blocks.  This marks the sixth time this season the six-time pick to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll has notched at least a .500 percentage.

Syrdahl's 189 career blocks keeps her fifth in team annals and her 631 career kills has her 10th.

Junior Shayla Boyce (Somerdale, NJ) had another strong match with eight kills, no errors, a .276 percentage and four blocks.  Her 978 career kills are third in team history.

Senior Neyshlian Roman Concepcion (Toa Baja, PR) again excelled in her final home match, closing with 23 digs that has her sixth with 1,157.  Freshman Rylen Carroll (Monroe, OH) finished with 26 assists for GBC (8-20, 4-14 CACC).

Morgan Silks notched 51 assists, Allyssa Hartney pounded 13 kills, Camille Johnson and Skylar Osenkarski had 10 each with Faith Zehnder getting 22 digs for the Tigers (23-3, 18-0).

Goldey-Beacom ends its season Thursday at Lincoln (PA).  Match time is at 6:00 pm.
